I was an avid reader growing up, and quite inclined to the performing arts, especially theater and music. However, like most kids, I was encouraged to pursue a college degree that had some use to it. And so, I went into Law School.After earning a double degree in Law and Criminal Science, I started my career as a defense attorney at one of the biggest law firms in Spain. However, my heart was always somewhere else, and after a few years, I decided to follow my true passion to the entertainment industry &#8211; and all the way to LA!<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/martahernani.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Me-living-my-best-LA-life-with-the-legally-blonde-fountain-scaled.png\" alt=\"Me living my best LA life with the legally blonde fountain\" itemprop=\"image\" title=\"Me living my best LA life with the legally blonde fountain\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\" class=\"no-lazyload\" \/>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<p>But how does one go from being a character in Suits to&#8230; well, writing Suits?For this makeover, I decided to study a dual master&#8217;s in Global Media and Communications from the London School of Economics and the University of Southern California. That&#8217;s right: the fastest way to LA was to spend a year in London first.While I was living in London, I worked as a script supervisor in the production of Purple Beatz (premiered at the BFI in 2022). I also taught competitive debate to a wonderful elementary school class in Seoul (remotely, yes). And I wrote the manuscript that went on to become my first published novel, Carlota Par\u00eds.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/martahernani.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/0000_Layer-7.jpg\" alt=\"_0000_Layer 7\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"546\" width=\"522\" title=\"_0000_Layer 7\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\" class=\"no-lazyload\" \/>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<p>USC and LA were my formative years, where I learnt everything I know about the business. The main title I held while in LA was Creative Executive, International Programming at Starz &#8211; but you can read all about that in the <strong>Mi Trabajo<\/strong> section.For the unofficial portion of my life, you should know I had a podcast where I interviewed Hollywood writers I admired. That I co-wrote and produced a VR piece with some USC classmates that made it to the frontpage of the LA Times.
